Latest Product News from IBM: "It
can even order itself..."
IBM's quirky series of TV ads have raised a few smiles
amongst our client base, but what do these technologies
mean for our clients. Many of you will have seen the self
managing X.Series server which can manage, heal and optimise
itself. The quip at the end of the advert is that it can
even "order itself", which is seen as a joke
in the advert, but it's not far from the truth.
Citrus-Lime's recent IBM server installs make heavy use
of this technology which is featured throughout the IBM
server range. If a server is reaching hard disk capacity
or running out of memory the server will alert our helpdesk
so we can resolve the problem before your organisation
suffers unplanned downtime or a loss of productivity.
When a component fails the server will order replacement
parts via our helpdesk and parts will be replaced without
any unplanned disruption to your company.
This new technology can also be applied to most existing
IBM servers, those on a proactive support plan will see
our engineers deploying these systems across your servers
over the next few months. IBM is currently making no charge
to license this software.
